Imagine a world without friction. Well for a start, the beer you're drinking would slip out of your hand. And you would have slipped off your chair and slid across the room to come to rest against a wall, and there you would stay until you figured out a way of propelling yourself by blowing against the wall to send you skidding off in another direction. Assuming there were humans of course, because sex would be impossible because you'd keep sliding off one another unless someone had designed some sort of clever sling to keep you together but how would you do that if the tools to build the sling kept slipping out of your hand.

We may have evolved past the amoeba stage I guess, and maybe all water borne stuff would be ok, but any land based activities would be out of the question surely...yes how far could life have evolved without friction?
